Some History of Lille

This Statue called “Monument au Général Faidherbe” or monument to general Faidherbe. Was placed here in 1896 as a commemoration to his heroic deeds during the Franco-Prussian War from 1870-1871.

This statue was “under fire” recently (2017) due to historical records saying he did horrible and violent acts to further French trading routes.

Even knowing this history of the general we still thought that this monument was an amazing historical artifact that holds many stories of the past of france.
