Anyone who knows Lille’s supporters knows they like to show off their own identity. On Friday 16 October, LOSC did it again, and this time in a very visible way. The new fourth shirt for the 2026-2027 season is a direct nod to Flanders.
A lion in place of the Dog
The most striking detail is on the chest. For the first time, the coat of arms of Flanders replaces the club crest. The black lion with red claws on a yellow background has been the symbol of the county since the Middle Ages. For one shirt, it becomes the emblem of the Dogues.
The shirt is mostly black with yellow accents, the historic colours of Flanders. The design also tries to evoke the region itself. The pattern is inspired by the stained glass of Flemish churches, and several details refer to the hills of Flanders.
Why this makes sense
For Flemish visitors who mainly know Lille as a city-trip destination, this may take some getting used to, but Lille lies in French Flanders. For centuries it was an important city of the County of Flanders.
The campaign around the shirt is about that region. Its French title is “Tout sauf plat” (“Anything but flat”), a joke about the cliché of the flat countryside. Rapper BEN plg, an artist from the region, narrates the campaign. Supporters and locals tell their stories, from the fields around Steenvoorde to the estaminets of Cassel
A Belgian touch
Belgian football fans have something to look forward to as well. LOSC is the club that developed Eden Hazard. The squad includes two Belgians, Nathan Ngoy and Ngal’ayel Mukau, and Ayase Ueda knows the Belgian league from his time at Cercle Brugge. They will therefore play at least one match this season with the Flemish lion on their shirt.
More than just the fourth shirt
The fourth shirt is the last in a series of new kits this season. The home shirt, released on 3 July, goes back to the shirt of the 2011 league and cup double. The white away shirt followed on 31 July, with a retro crest from the 1990s. The midnight blue third shirt arrived on 21 August and pays tribute to SC Fives with red fleurs-de-lis. All the kits also celebrate ten years of partnership with New Balance, shown by a special anniversary logo inside the collar.
The fourth shirt is available through the LOSC web shop for €95, while the “élite” version costs €130. A city trip to Lille combines perfectly with a match at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, so take a shirt home as a souvenir. Afterwards, enjoy a welsh or carbonade in one of the Flemish estaminets nearby.
